Overview

The Accountant supports the company in all accounting, financial, and tax operations in order to ensure properly managed cash and accounts and provide accurate, timely financial information to the executive team. In a very hands-on role, this position will work independently with little guidance, but will have access to internal administrative and bookkeeping support.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and review general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare, review, and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records and account reconciliations
  • Prepare income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports
  • Analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenditures
  • Prepare workpapers in support of tax analysis and tax returns
  • Manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process including coordination and collection of data from external resources
  • Prepare monthly executive reporting package and financial statements
  • Respond to G&A and similar auditor requests during quarterly and annual audit engagements
  • Develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures
  • Implement controls and evaluate actions required to ensure compliance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform regular and special analysis to ensure accuracy and proper accounting
  • Maintain database of legal documents supporting filing entities
  • Manage business licenses and other compliance-related filings
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, including depreciation and amortization entries
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms in support of quarterly estimates and year end compliance and tax filings and strategy
  • Maintain detailed corporate entities organization chart and supporting information

Required Skills

  • Minimum five years of experience in accounting
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, functions, practices, and procedures within the accounting function
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Able to successfully manage the full-spectrum of core responsibilities independently or with limited over-sight, and consistently solve complex problems to move projects forward
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software
  • Based in Austin, TX office

Education

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience required
